This was the kind of week that reminded me why blogging fell to the wayside for me: because at times, my life is truly boring! My company's annual kickoff is next week, so it's been wooooork work work work work on my end, in preparation. Lots of time spent in the office and glued to my laptop, and not much time for exciting weekday activities. But! GOODNESS, there were still some MAJOR highlights, liiiiike:
EAT & DRINK
This was a December Diet week rather than a January Diet week, if you catch my drift. Leah, Cassandra and I naively thought that we'd take advantage of our day off on Monday to hit up a nice brunch... turns out, half of San Francisco had the same idea. We ended up waiting in line at Mission Beach Cafe for an hour and then being so famished that once the food arrived, we all silently inhaled our meal in the span of 7 whole minutes. Can't really complain though - the food was bomb!
Other notable bites and sips: a hilarious night out at Madrone's Art Bar dancing to oldies music with my besties; a post-hike dinner at Noodle Theory in Berkeley with my friend Hanna's parents that was two-thumbs-up; and this chicken noodle soup that goes perfectly with a rainy night and a side of SNL.
SEE & DO
So, full disclosure: I'm actually dead right now. My 2018 and whole life have peaked, and here's why. I met Dule Hill and Josh Malina last weekend! If you know me at all, you'll know that in recent years, my obsessions have been: carbs (4lyfe), Coca Cola, and the West Wing. When I heard that the West Wing Weekly podcast was hosting an event at SF Sketchfest, I knew I had to be there. It was amazing! Dule and Josh shared some hilarious and heartwarming stories from their days on set - and Dule even tap-danced for us.
Unreal.
Afterwards, there was a real "Big Block of Cheese Day" gathering in the lobby where everyone could grab massive hunks of cheese and chat with Josh and Hrishi from West Wing Weekly. Needless to say, I haven't recovered.
Besides that, the other highlight was time spent in nature! We spent a day in Oakland, hiking in a redwood forest with Hanna's parents. In true city girl form, there was a nary twig or fern or mushroom that we could walk by without taking a picture. The next day, Leah, Cassandra, and I strolled around Golden Gate Park discovering hidden ponds and quiet nooks. All in all, a rejuvenating weekend!
IN MY CART
This is my new go-to hangover cure. I told my friends that Christmastime will now smell like shame, but whatever works, right?
WEEKEND FORECAST
Other than hunkering down with werk schmerk, I have the Women's March on the docket! Important question - are any of you ladies going and if so, are you making a poster? What does it say?!
